Prison vision project 2025

The ability to see is a fundamental human faculty - the one that shapes the perception of the world and enhances the human condition. Recognizing the profound impact of clear vision , our team, headed by Navindi Sandali Weerasinghe,  recently found the opportunity to distribute 250 eyeglasses to Female inmates at the Welikada Prison, Sri Lanka’s largest correctional facility.

This initiative was made possible through the generous support of our donors and the invaluable cooperation of the prison authorities, including the Chief Jailor and her dedicated team. Their encouragement ensured the successful execution of this project, bringing much-needed assistance to individuals striving for rehabilitation and personal growth.

For many recipients, these eyeglasses have opened new doors to education, spiritual engagement, and vocational training. Inmates expressed their heartfelt gratitude, sharing how improved vision now enables them to read novels, religious texts, and educational materials as part of their rehabilitation programs. Many also attend Sunday school and participate in skill-based activities such as sewing, where the simple ability to thread a needle is now within their reach.

As an organization committed to humanitarian service, we are honored to support communities in need and contribute to the well-being of individuals seeking a fresh start. This project is a testament to the power of compassion and collective effort in restoring dignity and hope.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the donors whose generosity made this initiative possible.

Together, we continue to make a difference one act of kindness at a time. #slawdc
